Fragrance Development Chemist

Location: Brixworth, Northamptonshire

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Job Type: Full-time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fragrance Development Chemist to join an innovative R&D team within a global fragrance business.

This role will suit a Chemistry or Cosmetic Science graduate with laboratory experience who is looking to develop their career within fragrance, product development and applied research. You will work on a variety of projects focused on understanding fragrance ingredients, developing new technologies and evaluating fragrance performance across different product categories.

The Role

As part of the R&D team, you will contribute to the development of fragrance-related technologies and support a range of technical projects from laboratory investigation through to reporting and communication of findings.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the development of new and innovative fragrance-related technologies.Investigating the properties and interactions of perfumes and fragrance ingredients across a range of product categories.Developing and evaluating new methods for testing fragrances and their performance in-use.Conducting laboratory-based test studies using fragrances and/or raw materials.Analysing and interpreting test results and communicating findings to relevant project teams.Preparing technical reports and presentations based on experimental findings and project learnings.Providing technical support on fragrance stability, suitability and performance.Working collaboratively with colleagues across different areas of the business on specific technical projects.Contributing to wider R&D activities and supporting the team as required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

A Degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science or a related scientific discipline.Ideally, 3+ years' experience within a flavour, fragrance, cosmetics or related technical environment.Previous experience working within a laboratory environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to investigations.Good written and verbal communication skills.Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.The confidence to take initiative and work independently.The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Are you looking to build your career in Quality Control within a successful manufacturing business?

We're recruiting for a QC Technician to join a well-established manufacturer supplying high-quality products to global consumer markets. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a scientific background and laboratory experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.

The Opportunity

As a QC Technician, you'll play a key role in ensuring raw materials, production batches and finished products consistently meet quality standards before release. Working closely with Production and other internal teams, you'll help maintain product quality while supporting the smooth running of manufacturing operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out Quality Control testing on raw materials, in-process and finished productsRelease materials and batches against agreed specificationsInvestigate and record non-conformancesSupport batch rework activities where requiredMaintain accurate laboratory records and quality documentationUpdate internal quality systemsLiaise with internal departments to ensure products are released on timeMaintain high laboratory housekeeping and Health & Safety standardsAbout You

We're looking for someone who has:

A strong scientific background gained through education, vocational qualifications or hands-on laboratory experiencePrevious experience within a Quality Control, laboratory or manufacturing environment (preferred)Excellent attention to detailStrong organisational and problem-solving skillsGood written and verbal communication skillsThe ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Experience within the chemical, homecare, household, fragrance, personal care or consumer products sectors would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Important Information

This position is based in Brixworth, Northamptonshire and starts at 6:00am.

Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Brixworth for a 6:00am start each working day. Candidates living locally or with access to their own transport will be best suited to this opportunity.

Please note that this position does not offer visa sponsorship. Applicants must already have the unrestricted right to work in the UK, as we are unable to support future sponsorship requirements.
