An established and growing contract manufacturer operating across the cosmetics, household and pet care sectors is looking to appoint an experienced Regulatory Manager to take ownership of regulatory compliance across its product portfolio.

Working closely with the Development, Laboratory, Quality, Commercial and Manufacturing teams, you will play a key role in ensuring products meet all relevant regulatory requirements, from initial customer brief and product development through to manufacture and ongoing compliance.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Regulatory professional to take a hands-on leadership role, providing technical guidance, managing regulatory requirements and helping strengthen compliance processes across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of regulatory compliance across cosmetics, household and pet care product ranges.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU cosmetics legislation, CLP and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Compile, review and maintain Product Information Files (PIFs), ensuring all required technical and safety documentation is in place.
  • Coordinate and manage Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs) and associated product safety assessments.
  • Review product formulations, raw materials, ingredients and supporting documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare, review and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS), chemical information and associated regulatory records.
  • Review product artwork, labelling and product claims to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and customer requirements.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and support to Development Chemists, Quality, Operations and Commercial teams throughout the NPD process.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and external regulatory service providers on technical and compliance matters.
  • Support customer accreditation applications, including COSMOS, Soil Association, Vegan and Cruelty Free requirements.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and assess their impact on existing products, new developments and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate regulatory systems, trackers and documentation, ensuring records are complete and audit-ready.
  • Support investigations relating to product compliance, raw materials, manufacturing issues and non-conformances.
  • Ensure appropriate COSHH assessments and chemical safety information are maintained.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of regulatory systems, processes and departmental efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Regulatory Affairs, Regulatory Compliance or Product Stewardship role within cosmetics, personal care, household or chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and EU cosmetics regulations and associated compliance requirements.
  • Practical experience compiling and maintaining Product Information Files (PIFs).
  • Understanding of Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs) and product safety assessment processes.
  • Working knowledge of CLP, product classification, labelling and chemical safety requirements.
  • Experience reviewing product artwork, ingredient information and product claims for regulatory compliance.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing or maintaining Safety Data Sheets and regulatory documentation.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and communicate these effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience within a contract manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of household and pet care product regulations alongside cosmetics.
  • Experience with COSMOS, Soil Association, Vegan and Cruelty Free accreditation.
  • Familiarity with COSHH assessments and chemical safety procedures.
  • Experience supporting NPD projects and working closely with formulation or development teams.
  • Previous experience managing or developing a regulatory function.

We are looking for a confident and commercially aware Regulatory professional who can take ownership of compliance matters and provide practical support across the business.

You will be comfortable working autonomously, managing competing priorities and building effective relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

As an important technical resource within the business, you will have the confidence to challenge where necessary, identify potential compliance risks and ensure regulatory requirements are considered throughout the product lifecycle.
